School Closures




It may be necessary under exceptional circumstances to close the school partially or fully, for the whole or a part of, the school day.

The school may be closed for the following reasons:

  • Fire
  • Extremely bad weather
  • Vandalism across the site
  • Boiler malfunction
  • Industrial action
  • Any other reason deemed acceptable by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

To find out if the school is closed for an unforeseen reason please check the Chilwell Croft Academy front page, your local radio station and if our reception have your mobile phone number a text message before the start of school.


Previous closures announcements:

‘Chilwell Croft Academy will be open for all staff and pupils on Wednesday 13th December. Please take care when walking to school and around the school site, we advise that pupils wear appropriate outerwear and footwear for the current weather conditions.

Please note that tomorrow is a school dress down day (Christmas jumper/party wear). There will be no after school clubs running, this is because we will be hosting a school disco for years 2-6. The disco will run from 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM.

The Music Concert schedule to take place tomorrow will continue as planned at 2:00 PM. Parents/Carers are invited to come and watch their child perform with their musical instrument.’

‘Chilwell Croft Academy will be closed for all staff and pupils on Tuesday 12th December 2017 due to icy conditions on side roads, around the school site and due to the forecasted freezing conditions predicted overnight.’

‘As a result of current snow and freezing weather conditions our school Chilwell Croft Academy will not be open to staff or pupils tomorrow, Monday 11th December 2017. This is in line with all Birmingham Local Authority Schools.’
