Aston Primary Schools Football League
During the first half term, Chilwell Croft’s year 5 and 6 football team have been competing in the Aston Primary schools football league.
The first fixtures were on Thursday 27th September, Chilwell played against Prince Albert and Heathfield Primary School. The Prince Albert game ended in a 2-0 loss, however the players managed to bounce back with a comfortable 4-0 win over Heathfield Primary.
Thursday 4th October was the second batch of fixtures which saw Chilwell Croft come up against Welford Primary and St Mary’s. Having a couple of first team players missing Chilwell struggled to create chances and suffered a close 1-0 loss to Welford. However second game was a lot more positive going forward, however the players couldn’t get that vital goal and the game against St Mary’s ended in a 0-0 draw.
The third and final set of fixtures were held on Thursday 11th October, the schools participating were Dorrington Primary and Sacred Heart Primary. Again for the second week running Chilwell have a few first team players missing, players playing in different positions, however that seemed to spur the team on with a big 4-0 win over Dorrington. The last fixture of this league ended in a tough 3-0 loss to Sacred Heart, however this being most of the players first experiences in playing 7-a-side football matches it has been a great learning curve for the players, and crucial to aiding their development. Chilwell has now finished all of its fixtures for this current league, although some other schools haven’t finished theirs, so the final league standings are unknown.Back to News
