Years 4+5 Girls
Aston District 6 a Side Girls Football:
On Tuesday 27th March, girls from Chilwell Croft Academy represented the school in an Aston District football tournament. The tournament consisted of twelve other schools with there being four leagues of three teams, in Chilwell’s league were St Chads and Welford Primary School. Each team had to play each other twice and Chilwell’s first game was against Welford, which Chilwell won 3-0. The following game was against St Chads, which again lead to another convincing 4-0 win. Chilwell’s second game against Welford was a well fought out battle which Chilwell ended up losing 1-0, and the final game in the league against St Chads finished with a 2-0 win, which saw the girl’s progress into the semi-finals of the tournament. In the semi-final Chilwell played St Vincents primary school in a very close match which ended up going into extra time, however Chilwell edged the win 1-0, meaning Chilwell progressed into the final to play Great Barr. This is the first time a Chilwell team had reached the final of this tournament, whether it was boys or girls, unfortunately though Chilwell lost the final 1-0 and came runners up in a very intense match. The girls left the pitch with their heads held high knowing they had made history for Chilwell Croft Academy.
